PULLMAN, Wash. — Police found the bodies of two men and one woman in a condominium here, and the mayor said investigators are considering murder-suicide a possibility.
"At this point, police believe all those involved were in the apartment," Pullman Mayor Glenn Johnson, who was acting as the police department's spokesman, said Sunday.
Johnson said the three died of "violent means," but did not release any additional details about the deaths.
Investigators believe the three died at some point on Saturday, when the bodies were found. Police recovered a weapon they believe may be connected to the killings, but authorities were not saying what the weapon was.
Police were working Sunday to confirm the identities of the three people, who Johnson described as under age 40.
Police found the bodies at a unit in the Statesman Condominiums around 7 p.m. Saturday, after someone called asking that they check on a person there.
Pullman, home to Washington State University, is in southeastern Washington near the Idaho border.
