Snow possible in Seattle area, weather service says
The National Weather Service says 1-2 inches of snow could fall overnight in the Seattle-Everett-Tacoma corridor.
The National Weather Service says 1-2 inches of snow could fall overnight in the Seattle-Everett-Tacoma corridor. Though temperatures are expected to warm by tomorrow morning, some of the snow could linger through the morning commute, said meteorologist Johnny Burg.
But forecasting snow in Western Washington is always tricky, and the picture isn't completely clear. University of Washington meteorologist Cliff Mass says his computer models show little chance of significant snowfall in the Puget Sound lowlands.
"We are in a marginal situation here, but it looks like it's going to be too warm for snow in Seattle," Mass said. "You might see a few wet snowflakes between 2 a.m and 5 a.m., but there's not going to be any accumulation."
Both the NWS and the UW models agree that any snowfall will be heaviest on Kitsap Peninsuala and the Hood Canal area, where four to six inches are possible. Between two and five inches of snow could also fall along the northern coastline, from Forks to Sekiu, with one to two inches in the Port Angeles/Sequim areas.
