Wednesday, October 19, 2005 - Page updated at 12:00 AM Foes of I-912 reach goal Opponents of Initiative 912, which would repeal the new gas tax, have reached their stated goal of raising more than $2 million for a campaign. The No on 912 campaign has raised about $2.2 million, including contributions of $100,000 each from Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates and Chief Executive Steve Ballmer. Boeing also contributed $100,000. The Yes912.com campaign has raised about $225,000, mostly through small contributions. The group has eight contributions of at least $1,000 from individuals and groups, including Kirby Wilbur, a KVI radio talk-show host; the Northwest Health Care Alliance; and Heath Homes. Monday was the last day under state law that the campaigns could receive contributions in excess of $5,000 from a single individual or group. State political parties are exempt. — Staff reporter Andrew Garber Copyright © 2005 The Seattle Times Company
