Bellevue police are looking for a suspected burglar today after the man and an accomplice drove a stolen car through a chain-link fence and park to elude police.

The man and woman drove the car through the fence at a self-storage business near 164th Avenue Northeast and Northeast Ninth Street just before noon, said Bellevue police spokesman Michael Chiu. They then drove through Crossroads Park and into a residential neighborhood, police said. The two suspects then ditched their car and ran off, Chiu said.

Police caught the woman and she was arrested, but the man is still at large, Chiu said.

The pair are suspected of breaking into a car in north Bellevue this morning, where they found a security code for a storage unit, Chiu said. The owner of the car discovered the break-in and called the storage business to say someone might be breaking into the unit.

An employee at the business saw the pair trying to break into the storage unit and called police. As police surrounded the business, the suspects drove through the fence and park to get away.

Police shut down part of Northeast Eighth and Northeast Sixth streets while they looked for the man at large. A police dog was unable to find the man.
