A 47-year-old man drown while swimming with his son in the Stillaguamish River yesterday near Arlington.

The man was taken to Cascade Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, an Arlington city official said. The call came in to Arlington police at 3:40 p.m.; sheriff's divers pulled the man from the river at 4:15 p.m.

He and his 12-year-old son were swimming under the railroad bridge in the river east of Highway 9 near Haller Park when they got in trouble.

The boy also was pulled from the river but was safe last night.
