A Kirkland man admitted in federal court in Seattle that he cooked up a batch of the poison ricin in his apartment.

The plea Wednesday by Robert Alberg, 37, was part of an agreement that calls for five years of probation and mental-health treatment. Alberg has been diagnosed with depression and a form of autism called Asperger's Disorder, which can include severe impairment in social interaction and abnormally intense preoccupations.

Alberg was arrested in April.
