PORT ANGELES Archaeological digs will begin in April where workers discovered an Indian burial ground and village site, halting work on reconstruction of the Hood Canal Bridge. The Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe yesterday signed an agreement with state and federal agencies spelling out how archaeological work will proceed at the site, where the remains of at least 12 people have been unearthed. The government had been negotiating with the tribe since summer, when work was halted on constructing a dockyard to build pontoons for the $275.6 million bridge reconstruction.
