ARLINGTON — A man nearly bit off his stepfather's toe during an argument and was arrested for investigation of second-degree assault, police said.

The man was arrested after a report of an altercation about 7:30 p.m. yesterday at an apartment in Arlington, Police Chief John Gray said.

The toe was nearly severed and the stepfather, who is in his 60s, was taken to Cascade Valley Hospital. Officials at the hospital would not release information on his condition, citing privacy laws.

The stepson, who is in his 40s, was booked into the Snohomish County Jail.
