Sunday, January 04, 2004 - Page updated at 12:00 A.M. Parking-lot shootings in Des Moines leave one dead, one injured By Maria Gonzalez
At least three other suspects may have been involved in the shootings outside the Redondo Bar and Grill on the 27100 block of Pacific Highway South at around 1:20 a.m., according to police. Authorities suspect two other men who were at local hospitals with gunshot injuries may have been involved in that shooting. Details are still sketchy, as authorities are tracking more witnesses. Police received an anonymous phone call yesterday about where the shooting took place, but the caller hung up before giving more details, police said. When police arrived, they found two males shot in the parking lot and called for medical assistance. The 17-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled with the King County Medical Examiner for tomorrow. A second man believed to be in his early 20s was taken to Harborview Medical Center; his condition was unknown late yesterday. Their identities were not available last night. A Redondo Bar and Grill employee who asked not to be named said a group of young men fired weapons out the bar back door the night of the shootings. Anyone with information about the shootings should call the Des Moines Police Department at 206-878-3301. Maria Gonzalez: 206-464-2449 or mgonzalez@seattletimes.com
