By next spring, the Green River Task Force will be reduced to its pre-2001 size, with one detective, Tom Jensen, left to follow tips and search for more evidence linking Gary L. Ridgway to other slayings. Here is what's next for the team (all are King County Sheriff's employees unless noted otherwise): Capt. Jim Graddon will head the sheriff's Maple Valley precinct. Sgt. D.B. Gates will become a patrol sergeant. Detective Raphael Crenshaw is returning to patrol in SeaTac. Detective Jim Doyon is retiring after 32 years on the force. Detective Tom Jensen, officially retired, will stay with the Green River case for a while. He will work out of the Regional Justice Center in Kent. Detective Kathleen Larson, the task-force spokeswoman, has been promoted to sergeant and will supervise patrol in Shoreline. Detective Graydon Matheson is moving to the sheriff's Division of Technical Services, which oversees evidence, training, recruiting and other procedural matters. Detectives Jon Mattsen, Jake Pavlovich and Sue Peters are returning to the Major Crimes Unit, which investigates homicides, serious assaults and other crimes.
Detective Tony McNabb is returning to patrol duty in the Maple Valley precinct. Detective Randy Mullinax is returning to the Criminal Intelligence Unit. Detective Kevin O'Keefe of the Seattle Police Department is returning to his longtime position on the homicide squad. Detective Frank Spence will return to patrol duty in the Burien and SeaTac area.
