Rant & Rave

Rant and Rave Rant to the man who ripped the Oregon window flag and broke it off a car window at the game. Rave to the Husky fans who apologized to the Oregon fan, when she returned to the car, for the behavior of one and then pooled their money to buy her a replacement. Go Dawgs.

Rave To the staff of Alaska Airlines on a flight from Dallas to Seattle, who warmly announced the group of young men and women from a Fort Lewis Stryker group who were on their way home on leave from Afghanistan. The gate agent asked everyone at the gate to give the soldiers a round of applause and had them board first, before first-class, in gratitude for their service.

Rant To the local mall that seems to be turning a blind eye to drug sales and prostitution going on in the family bathrooms. On three occasions in a year I have witnessed active trades going on when I brought my young children into those bathrooms and reported it, only to watch the security officers do nothing.

Rave To the Washington State Ferries and the captain and crew of the Wenatchee who were so helpful and kind to us about our scattering a friend's ashes from the ferry. They made what could have been a sad occasion a lot brighter.

Rant To the woman at the Brandi Carlile concert who yelled out constantly during the show. Next time, how about drinking fewer cocktails beforehand and showing your fellow concertgoers and the performer more respect. And to the women sitting behind you — why pay to see a performance, only to sit and talk to each other during every song?

Rave To the couple on the Link who drove me to the airport from the Tukwila station so I didn't have to wait for the shuttle, the 30 or so people in front of me at the airport security checkpoint, the TSA agent that didn't mind when they pushed me to the front of the line and the gate agents that kept the doors open. Without all of you going the extra mile, I would have missed the last flight to Spokane. Thanks, and lesson learned: when the Sounders play night games, I'll plan on staying in Seattle.
