The winners of our Peeps contest

An announcement of the winners of The Seattle Times 2009 Peeps contest.

Truly, madly, Peeply: Our readers are crazy about The Seattle Times' annual Peeps contest. We received nearly 150 entries this year. You can see them here.

The only rule: Entries must be constructed mostly of Peeps and must be suitable for a family newspaper. From dozens of clever submissions, our in-house panel of judges chose 10 winners:

"Miracle on the Hudson! 155 Peep-ole Safe," by Sky Flirt, Bellevue; "J. Peep Patches, Peep-trude, and Boris S. Peep at the City Dump," by missinwash, Oceanside, Calif.;"Peeps of Two Cities" (set courtesy of Carey Wong, from his design for the Seattle Children's Theatre's production of "A Tale of Two Cities"), by Oshuna Oma and Sarah Mixson, Edmonds; "President Opeepa," by Mike James, Seattle; "Seattle Peep-I," by Kathy Shaffer, Bellevue; "Synchro Peeps," by Kristen & Eloise Johnson, Federal Way; "Slumpeep Millionaire," by Mary King, Seattle; "Freemont Naked Bicyclist Peep," by Sunday Stray, Kirkland; "Captain Peep Sully and the Miracle on the Hudson," by Heather Douangpanya, Bothell; and "Pollock's Peep Madness," by Emily Cates, Ron Christoffell, Pete Dawley, Rudy Garza, Jeanne Gold, Jerry Gold and Miss Julia of Everett.

But wait, there's more! To see a YouTube video of the making of "Pollock's Peep Madness," click here.

I'm actually extremely disappointed with the chosen winners. Out of 140+submissions, that's what the Times' Staff picked? Ouch.  Posted on April 12, 2009 at 8:32 AM by LCSeattle. Jump to comment
Maybe its not kosher to do this, but I gotta say the other Washington outdid the Times entries: ...  Posted on April 12, 2009 at 10:21 AM by cj764. Jump to comment
I was most disappointed by how little space was devoted to the peeps, which my daughter and I look forward to seeing every Easter Sunday!  Posted on April 12, 2009 at 8:57 AM by mcksnag. Jump to comment
