GILLETTE, Wyo. —

A Gillette teenager is suing a hospital for $1 million, saying the staff there allowed her to fall off an operating table after surgery.

Ashlie Churchill filed the lawsuit on Friday against the Campbell County Memorial Hospital.

Churchill says the fall happened in March 2006, after she had her tonsils removed at the hospital at age 16. The lawsuit says she fell after the nursing staff unbuckled her safety strap and tried to get her to sit up on the operating table.

Churchill says she has suffered headaches and neck pain as a result of the fall. Her lawsuit is seeking $8,000 in medical expenses and about $992,000 to compensate her for suffering, future medical expenses and disability.

The hospital's lawyer declined comment on the lawsuit.
