Rant and Rave!

Rant "To whomever stole a banner draped on our homeowner's sign saying, 'Welcome back from Iraq, Josh and Andrew,' with hearts and stars and American flags on it. Shame on you. Do you believe in karma? I do. Please return it."

Rave "To the man in South Park who called the police to report the old and ugly Datsun pickup — subject of a recent rant — sitting in his parking lot. And to my brother who replaced the broken window and fixed the broken side mirror. He also reattached the rear view mirror, which had fallen off years ago. My mom is thrilled to have her chore truck back!"

Rant "To the woman in the Subaru who nearly mowed down the red Jeep Wrangler at the intersection of 25th Avenue West and West Armour Street in Magnolia on Sept. 24. You blew right through the intersection without even looking. When you finally did glance over — you must have heard our brakes squealing — you gave us a big, toothy grin. You don't belong behind the wheel of a potentially deadly weapon. Slow down. You do not own the road. City of Seattle: We need more stop signs in Magnolia."

Rave "To truck driver David Train. During a camping trip, our fuel pump in our Suburban died while pulling our 23-foot trailer near Yakima. After about a half-hour on the side of the road, a truck pulled up. David hooked the trailer up to his own truck and towed us to an RV park. The next morning, David loaded up our trailer to his truck again and took us to his brother's place, where they had the Suburban humming. We paid Doug [the brother], and we offered David dinner, breakfast, money. His reply was, 'Just stop for me if you see me on the side of the road.' His kindness and generosity restored our faith in humanity."

Rave "To Saed at Orange Cab. After my husband inadvertently gave him a $100 bill instead of a $20 bill, he called us on our cellphone and conscientiously drove back to the airport and returned our money."

Rant "I've noticed a promotional message on the Husky scoreboard that says the Tyrone Willingham show is at Anthony's on Monday's [sic]. Nobody at UW could copy-edit that before it went up?"

Grammar nerds (ourselves included) are watching. Call in your rants and raves to 206-464-3279 or e-mail us at Rantandrave@seattletimes.com.
