Bring order — and power — to your tech gear, plus ideas for the home and garden
Tips on creating a low-cost docking and charging station for all your tech gear, plus where to click for ideas for the home and garden.
Our picks to click this week:
• Ikea Hacker (ikeahacker.blogspot.com) offers a low-cost idea for corralling and charging cellphones, MP3 players, handheld games and other tech gear. A contributor shares how to create a gadget docking and charging station by simply drilling a few holes in Ikea's (ikea.com) $15 Estetisk Storage with Compartments desk accessory and adding a power strip.
• YardShare (www.yardshare.com) showcases homeowners' outdoor projects and advice. Recent postings include a potager (kitchen garden); several barbecues; and "Lori & Phil's," a slideshow of how one couple took a flat slab of a yard and turned it into an oasis with a pond, waterfall and outdoor kitchen.
• Oliveaux (www.oliveaux.blogspot.com) posts on the beauty and simplicity of Swedish style with photos from the current issue of Traditional Home, which features the former home of Loi Thai, co-owner of Bethesda, Md., antiques shop Tone on Tone (www.tone-on-tone.com).
• Katiedid (www.katie-d-i-d.blogspot.com) provides a virtual peek inside the September issue of Architectural Digest, which features the homes of designers. You can see interior shots of the San Francisco home of Jack Calhoun, president of Banana Republic, and the Venetian flat of Belgian designer Axel Vervoordt.
