On HGTV's episode of "Landscapers' Challenge" on Sunday, Edmonds landscape architect Ruth Burrus of Burrus Design Group transforms a Ballard garden into a serene retreat.

Burrus competed on HGTV's "Landscapers' Challenge" to win the job of renovating Charles and Annie Jones' steep front garden in east Ballard.

The old garden had cracked stairs, a broken sidewalk and a boring rockery. On a budget of $30,000, and with the help of Everett landscape contractor Terra Firma, the Jones' garden now has safe new steps, landings and even a deck with an unexpected view.

The episode airs at 9:30 a.m. Sunday on HGTV.
