Hey, Upper East Siders ... Gossip Girl here. Spotted: "GG" star Chace Crawford signing autographs and posing for pictures with plenty of female fans at the University Verizon Wireless store. The tousle-haired cutie was casual in a gray sweater and black pants — should he be taking style tips from C? That would be his rumored girlfriend, "American Idol" Carrie Underwood. ...
IS THERE A DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE? Starstruck diners tried hard to keep their cool in the presence of the doctors McDreamy and McSteamy at Purple Cafe and Wine Bar in downtown Seattle last Friday night. "The McHotties were with three or four people," reports my spy, whom we'll call J. "Everyone was so respectful of them — all staring and fanning themselves but not approaching or bugging them." Yes, we do mind our manners here in Seattle. The "Grey's Anatomy" docs had a drink at the bar and then ate at a downstairs table as fellow diners respectfully gawked. Before he left, McSteamy stopped to chat with J's 9-month-old son, B: "He told him, 'It must be past your bedtime, but you're still cute!' If only he had stopped and talked to me!" Seriously. ...
ALL THE GOSSIP GIRLS are whispering about the best-kept beauty secret among Seattle's swanky social set. "Men love 'em like they love a Brazilian," Deb Reinhardt says of her eye-popping eyelash extensions (www.vlashes.com). Wink, wink. It may be the season to splurge, but just a tip: Beauty doesn't come cheap. ...
WHO'S YOUR GRAND-DADDY?: "Every year, once a year, I age 50 years for 22 minutes onstage with the Nutcracker." That's KING-TV's John Curley, who will reprise his guest role as the Grandfather during one show of the Pacific Northwest Ballet's annual production. Others making cameos this year are KOMO-TV's Steve Pool — whose 9-year-old daughter appears in the cast as well — and Sonics Dance Team member Laura McClure. Says the always-poetic Curley: "We stand in the back and move with all the grace of a printing press as dancers float by and whisper insulting little things under their breaths to us." ...
GET YOUR FEDORA and your drink on at Vessel on Dec. 5, aka Repeal Day, when the hip downtown cocktail lounge celebrates the fall of Prohibition. The bar will open at 2:32 p.m. — marking the exact time of repeal on the West Coast — and serve beer and bubbly for $2.32 all day. Dress in period garb for a 33 percent discount from your bar bill (because Prohibition was repealed in 1933, natch). And with the money you save, you can take a crack at a bottle of authentic Prohibition whiskey, circa 1931. What does 76-year-old whiskey taste like? Freedom. ...
ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS is a Louis Vuitton monogrammed steamer trunk, circa early 1900s. The vintage piece of luggage is on display at Seattle boutique Polite Society and is so old-school that the famous LV monogram is hand-painted on the brown fabric. Sure, it costs $9,850, but let's consider it a work of art, and shouldn't we all be investing in the arts? ...
CELEBRITY SIGHTINGS ROUNDUP: Former D-Lister Kathy Griffin dodging actual paparazzi outside the Alexis Hotel as she left for her sold-out show at the Paramount ... Japanese pop duo Puffy AmiYumi making their own flavored coffee during a tour of Starbucks headquarters ... Ben Harper and Laura Dern dining with their kids at Sazerac ... Mike Holmgren dining with his wife and daughters and extended family at the Met. Included in their order: One Seahawk Martini.
