Hey, Britney, what aboot your hair?

"Britney! Britney, why did you shave your head?" That was former Q13 anchor Leslie Miller chasing down Bald Britney with a TV camera as the first reporter on that now-infamous scene, and it pretty much sums up the difference between life in Seattle and life in La-La Land.

Now at KABC-TV in Los Angeles, Leslie returned recently for "a high-calorie weekend" — dinner at Barolo, Easter brunch at the Fairmont — and I caught up with her at Black Bottle in Belltown, where she happily reunited with a half-dozen pals at a table by the window. So is she a California girl now? "I will always be a Canadian girl," she says. OK, but what about speculation that former Q13 boss Todd Mokhtari — who joined KIRO-TV as news director in February — may lure her back to Seattle's airwaves? She played coy: "Ask Mokhtari." In other words, stay tuned. ...

"I TELL THEM to call me Ki-Minty Lee Simmons," joked Minty Jeffrey, co-founder of ColorsNW with husband Robert Jeffrey, at the multicultural magazine's sixth anniverary bash/concert at EMP last Saturday. Robert wore a gold fraternity pin bearing a lightning rod; Minty was resplendent in a floor-length black Baby Phat gown. But her matching designer stilettos bid an early goodnight — Minty stashed them in her silver handbag during the pre-concert cocktail hour and put on flats instead. "What a pragmatic founder we have," remarked ColorsNW's Annie Kuo. Indeed.

Meanwhile, I had a moment with ColorsNW editor-in-chief Naomi Ishisaka and asked what inquiring minds want to know: Does ColorsNW have an official position on the Brangelina brood? "No, we do not have an official position," she laughed, "but it's funny, we were just talking about that the other day." Later, much later, Naomi and Annie were spotted dancing on chairs. ...

"OH! YOU BUSTED me wearing the same skirt!" cried the fashionista-who-shall-remain-nameless, by way of greeting, at the Fashion First kick-off reception near Green Lake on April 5. In her defense, it's a really cute skirt. Alas, comical fashion faux pas were in abundance at this fashionable event, a precursor to the annual Fashion First runway show on Aug. 2. Seattle Daily Candy Editor Jasmine Moir locked her keys in the car and appeared slightly frazzled, confessing she didn't have time to change. No matter, she still looked like a doll. As for moi, I accidentally dipped my hair in a scented candle upon arrival. "Are you wearing Hermès?" sniffed a gentleman with wavy brown hair like McDreamy. "No," I replied, "it's candle wax." ...

"THE WOMAN JUST likes to throw a party," says an editor at Seattle Metropolitan Magazine of her boss, publisher Nicole Vogel. Vogel, dressed in a white Rachel Roy gown, greeted guests at a packed bridal-themed luncheon at Hotel 1000 on April 5 to celebrate the July launch of Seattle Metropolitan Bride & Groom magazine. "It was tres elegant," reports a party guest. "We started on the terrace, drinking lemonade and champagne." Vogel's executive assistant, Kevin Cook, appeared at the party dressed in drag as his alter ego, Ms. Poison Waters, wearing a brilliant blue bridesmaid gown and enough costume jewelry to choke a horse. Of course. ...

"YOU SHOULD SEE Jeffrey Stanton disco dance," says PNB house manager John Tangeman, referring to the principal dancer. He's describing the potential shenanigans at the Backstage Bash on April 20, after an evening performance during the Celebrate Seattle Festival (www.pnb.org/season/festival.html), and I'm sold. On a recent visit to McCaw Hall, John gave me a quick tour behind the scenes — I was thisclose to a bunch of half-naked male dancers in skirts and had to quell a self-destructive urge to run across stage — and we ran into Patricia Barker, who was wearing red sweats and fake eyelashes. The unofficial tour ended with John and ballet master Otto Neubert humiliating me in a backstage game of darts. How ungentlemanly. I will be back.
