Peeptacular!

The Peeps have spoken.

When The Seattle Times challenged readers to concoct a creation of Peeps, we expected a few dozen entries. Instead, you've taken our breath away: We've received nearly 300 sculptures, dioramas and masterPeeps in person and via digital photos.

There are inspirational Peeps (Peep Benedict XVI, The Last Supper with Peeps as disciples). There are political Peeps (same-Peep marriage, the vice president's hunting mishap). There are historical Peeps (Madame Peepadour, the Peepstock music festival). And there are plenty of Peep-culture Peeps (several of "Brokeback Mountain," SpongeBob Squarepants, "American Idol," "Harry Peeper" — even "Peeps Gone Wild").

Some are valentines to our area (the Space Needle, of course). Some were disturbing (homicidal Peeps, a graphic depiction of a Peep C-section). But most are creative, earnest — and downright hilarious.

We love the entries from grade-school and day-care classes (see one at: http://schools.lwsd.org/kijh/Peeps/peepweb.htm) as much as those from artists or seniors. And a few of you may have a little too much time on your hands.

Here are some of our favorites. And we will exhibit dozens in the lobby of The Seattle Times (1120 John St., Seattle, 98109), 1-6 p.m. Monday, and 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday. Come by and have a Peep.
