'American Idol' random news roundup for Thursday, April 15

Posted by Bob Payne

The theme for next week's Top 7 "American Idol" performances is "Inspirational Songs," and the mentor will be Alicia Keys. The song list can be found here. Do you have any suggested song choices for your favorite contestants?

OK, I have a suggestion: How about "Calling All Angels" by Train for Lee DeWyze? And and if anybody touches that Michael Bolton song, they immediately must go home.

Adam Lambert, fresh off his performance on AI's results show Wednesday night, talked about his touring plans in a radio interview today. His U.S. tour this summer will be called the "Glamnation Tour." We'll let you know when we hear about a Seattle date.

• The Season 9 compilation album will be released May 11. It features songs from the Top 10 contestants. You can preorder it on Amazon now. Some odd song choices on the track listing: "Ready For Love," for Michael Lynche instead of "A Woman's Work"?

• The performance list for "Idol Gives Back" (8-10 p.m. Wednesday on Q13 Fox) is starting to fill out. Among those scheduled are Elton John, Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood, The Black Eyed Peas, Annie Lennox, Jeff Beck & Joss Stone and Mary J. Blige & the All-Star Band.

Oh and President Obama will give a short video address, and Seattle-based Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is a not-for-profit partner on the charity special.
