It's Official: Washington Signs Aziz N'Diaye

Washington received a letter of intent from Aziz N'Diaye, the 7-foot center from Dakar, Senegal.

He joins forward Desmond Simmons as the latest member of the 2010 class.

Aziz N'Diaye (pronounced AH-zeese EN-jai...like "eye") is the second 7-footer signed at Washington during coach Lorenzo Romar's head coaching tenure and just the 12th player to stand over seven feet tall in UW hoops history.

N'Diaye redshirted the 2009-10 season after tearing his right ACL last year at the College of Southern Idaho.

He averaged 8.5 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in 31 games as a freshman at CSI. He made 26 starts and averaged 21.4 minutes in helping his team to a 22-9 record. His career best totals were 24 points, 14 rebounds and 8 blocked shots in a game.

In a statement released by the school, Romar said: "We're really excited to have Aziz. When you play in the NCAA Tournament and continue to advance, the one thing you see more and more of is size. Aziz is a seven-footer and definitely fills a need there. At the same time, he is very athletic and can get up-and-down the court."

N'Diaye, 21, will have three years of eligibility at UW.
