Is Clarence Trent Quitting Football?

Posted by Percy Allen

After two weeks, it looks as if freshman Clarence Trent is walking away from football.

That's what UW defensive coordinator Nick Holt told KJR's Dave Mahler and Bob Condotta.

According to Condotta, "Trent has participated in four practices so far. Tuesday's was the first in full pads."

Not sure what this means for coach Lorenzo Romar and the Huskies as it pertains to recruiting. Trent, who was playing defensive end, would have freed up an extra scholarship for the basketball team if he had played just one play in the fall for the football team.

Technically, the basketball team has one scholarship available, but Romar was non-committal when asked if he would offer two scholarships.

This season Trent appeared in 23 games. He averaged 1.8 points and 1.7 rebounds.
