Washington loses Turkish star recruit Kanter to Kentucky

On its subscription site, Scout.com broke the news that Turkish star Enes Kanter, who orally committed to Washington in November, will sign a national letter of intent with Kentucky.

We first reported Kanter was wavering from the Huskies and after visiting the Wildcats, he reportedly gave a pledge to the SEC program.

I just got a call from a reporter in Louisville who said the story appears to be true. Per NCAA rules, the Kentucky coaches aren't acknowledging the report, but as the reporter said: "There's a lot of happy people in Lexington."

Rivals.com caught up with Kanter's prep coach Derryck Thornton who confirmed the report.

"Yes, it's done," Thornton wrote in a text message to CatsPause.com.

In a story today, ESPN.com didn't have the news on Kanter's commitment, but it ranked him the second best post recruit still available.
