Some quick notes from today.

--- Justin Holiday suffered what's being called a mild concussion in Saturday's game against Cal. He missed Monday's practice, but should be available Thursday.

--- Coach Lorenzo Romar plans to keep the same starting lineup (Isaiah Thomas, Quincy Pondexter, Abdul Gaddy, Tyreese Breshers and Holiday) against UCLA.

--- Romar said he changed the rotation patterns last week. He still uses a 9-11 man lineup, but reserves enter the game later than before. In the past, Romar talked about 5-minute shifts. It looks as if he's extended that to 7-8 minute shifts to allow more continuity on the court.

--- Pondexter, the Pac-10 Player of the Week, has been more effective in the past two games because UW coaches harped on spacing and ball reversals.

Said Romar: "Having played and coached with scorers if after awhile they don't get touches in the right spot, they start twitching sort of speak. They'll do whatever it takes to get that touch. Sometimes you can end up forcing shots.

"I thought what we tried to help with our team was No. 1, you don't need to do that. And No. 2, guys if we get ball reversals, the ball will find the scorers. But sometimes we can play in such a way where the ball can stick in one person's hand maybe. Or we don't reverse the ball.

"Isaiah and Quincy won't even have the ball, but yet the ball may not get reversed so those guys don't get opportunities. I thought we did a better job of moving the ball and spacing the floor and the cream always rises to the top when you do that."

--- Romar addressed UW's road woes. He said: "I can't call it a mental thing yet. Because we've played two conference (games) and didn't do well, I can't say that yet." Clearly, Romar chose not to remember the losses at Texas Tech and against Georgetown in the John R. Wooden Classic in Anaheim, Calif.

--- And speaking of Wooden, Thomas wanted to meet the legendary coach earlier in the season, but didn't get a chance. He's hoping it happens this week. He'd settle on a picture with actor Jaleel White, who portrayed Steve Urkle in the sitcom Family Matters. White attended last year's UW game in L.A.

"I (saw) him," Thomas said. "That was fun. Steve Urkle at a game. That's crazy. I'm looking forward to seeing him again. I need to take a picture with him or something."
