Talked to coach Lorenzo Romar before the press conference at the John R. Wooden Classic and here's the highlights of that interview:

--- The Huskies held 90-minute practice this morning at the Honda Center.
--- He wouldn't divulge what he's going to do with the starting lineup. Romar could go with the big lineup featuring forward Darnell Gant or Tyreese Breshers or the small lineup with Elston Turner. More on that below.
--- He also said he plans to reduce the minutes and shorten the rotation even though the Hoyas don't have a very deep team. Also more below.
--- The team scrimmaged this Tuesday and took a day off in the middle of the week so he hopes that keeps them fresh for tomorrow's game.

NOTES FROM THE PRESS CONFERENCE:

--- John Wooden, 99, didn't attend, however, he issued a statement that read in part: "I'd like to thank everyone who's been a part of this week's events and I'm disappointed to not be with all of you today. ... This event has a long history of giving back to Southern California charities and I look forward to many more years of the same."

--- UCLA coach Ben Howland said it's been an unusual week for the Bruins because of Finals. The team took Monday and Tuesday off. Freshman forward Tyler Honeycutt played his first game last Sunday and freshman forward Reeves Nelson practiced this week despite suffering an eye injury in the previous game that will require him to wear protective goggles

--- UCLA's roster has been decimated by the NBA's one-and-done rule. Howland would support a system that allows high school players to make an immediate jump to the NBA, but if they choose college he wants a 2- or 3-year commitment.

--- Mississippi State played Thursday night in Tampa. The Bulldogs arrived at their Anaheim hotel at 3 a.m. They are practicing now, but no doubt will have a little jet lag tomorrow.

HERE'S LORENZO ROMAR ON TOMORROW'S GAME:

(Any news on the rotation?) "It's still - whose going to be there and whose not - it's still going to be cut down. That rotation, it could change. If someone comes in in the first half ... You're first 6-7, they're in there. After that just a couple of guys. It's a feel to see whose doing well that day. Whose feeling it? Whose playing great?"

(Is it an odd time to cut the rotation considering Georgetown doesn't have a deep bench and you could use your depth to exploit them?) "It's not an odd time. Eleven guys can still play, but they might play two minutes. They won't get extended minutes. We won't play 11 guys extended minutes. Even though they're not playing, the depth is still there because you can still get guys in and out. But what happens is you rotate eight or nine guys, guys just play longer minutes that's all. Instead of playing 11 minutes, some guys may get 16. Guys that get 16 may get 20."

(Do you go big with the starters or make the Hoyas adjust to you?) "We're starting Quincy Pondexter and Matthew Bryan-Amaning so we didn't adjust. We'll see how the game goes."

(But the Elston Turner/Tyreese Breshers spot?) "It could be Darnell (Gant). His ability to defend Greg Monroe. We'll see. Depending on how that game goes we could make adjustments like wait a minute, we can not play against this team if we go small. But it could be we got to stay small because we have an advantage because it's hard for them to keep up with us."
