Georgetown looks awfully good

Led by preseason All-American center Greg Monroe (left) who finished with career highs in points and rebounds, No. 15 Georgetown made it look easy in 72-65 victory over 22nd-ranked Butler last night in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Monroe finished with 24 points on 9-for-20 shooting and 15 rebounds. Guard Austin Freeman, who connected on 4 of 5 three-pointers, added 18 points.
The Hoyas' big men -- Monroe, Julian Vaughn and reserve center Henry Sims -- dominated inside as Georgetown outscored Butler 30-16 in the paint and outrebound the Bulldogs 43-30.
It's interesting to note Butler center Matt Howard was 1-of-9 from the field and scored nine points before fouling out with 3:34 left.

Butler coach Brad Stevens told the Indianapolis Star the Bulldogs struggled to combat Georgetown's long-armed defenders.
"We obviously missed a lot of shots right around the basket," Stevens said. "Their length obviously bothered us. ... I thought Matt played hard through it. It's just a frustrating night. Him, and our entire team, I thought."
The Hoyas only weakness last night was 21 turnovers.
Georgetown (7-0) will fly to Anaheim, Calif. to play No. 17 Washington on Saturday in the John Wooden Classic.
AROUND THE PAC-10:
--- Arizona State traveled to Provo, Utah and lost 81-68 to BYU. ASU (6-3) fell behind midway in the first half and never recovered. The Sun Devils cut a 16-point second-half deficit to four, but that was close as they got.
--- USC ended a three-game losing streak with a 51-36 victory over Sacramento State. Dwight Lewis, who fell out of favor with coach Kevin O'Neil and played just six minutes in the previous game, finished with a game-high 16 points in 38 minutes. The Trojans improved to 3-4. Also interesting, just 2,213 watched the game at USC's Galen Center.
