New Husky recruit: Enes Kanter; polls released

Posted by Percy Allen

According to Scout.com's Dave Telep, the Huskies received a commitment from Enes Kanter, a 6-foot-9 post player out of Simi Valley (Calif.) Stoneridge Prep, for the Class of 2010.

He was considering USC and UCLA. Apparently, Kanter forged a strong relationship with new assistant Raphael Chillious.

Kanter, 17, is regarded as the top prospect in Turkey and was recently named the MVP of the Under-18 European Championships, where he averaged 18.6 points and 16.4 rebounds a game.

Looks like NBA scouts expect Kanter to be a one-and-done player for the Huskies. DraftExpress.com has him as a lottery pick.

There's been no official announcement from the school because coaches can't talk about recruits during this period. Kanter is expected to sign in the spring.

Kanter joins Desmond Simmons, who signed two weeks ago, and C.J. Wilcox, who is redshirting this season.

Washington is still believed to be in pursuit of Jefferson High (Ore.) star Terrence Jones.

***UPDATED 11:12 AM***

THE POLLS ARE OUT

--- No change for Washington, which remains at No.14 in both polls. It's interesting to note California dropped out of the AP poll, leaving UW as the only Pac-10 team. The Bears fell to No. 23 in the coaches' poll.
