Wednesday afternoon links --- Cunningham nominated for Oscar, and more

We'll start the afternoon links with a story that I'll admit flew right by me when it first happened a few weeks ago --- former Husky Ed Cunningham being nominated for an Academy Award.

Along with his ABC/ESPN announcing career, the former UW center (a captain on the 1991 national title team) is also a film producer, and his most recent project, Undefeated, is up for an Academy Award this month for documentary feature.

Here's a recent story on Cunningham and the movie. And here's a trailer.

And here's a blog post from last August where I talked with Cunningham about the 1991 season.

In other news. ...

--- Lots of good stuff here from SI.com's Stewart Mandel on the Pac-12 Networks.

--- George Schroeder of the Eugene Register-Guard details how and why the Pac-12 is in favor of a football "Final Four.''

--- The LA Times details USC's attempts to hire former UW assistant Eric Yarber away from UCLA. Further evidence that such "poaching'' --- and I always wonder if that word is used in, say, the fast food industry if a guy moves from McDonald's to Burger King --- seems on the rise.

--- ESPN's Mark Schlabach looks at top spring storylines throughout college football.
