UW has released an official post-spring football depth chart today.

Here it is.

Most notable is that sophomore Keith Price is listed atop the QB position, ahead of redshirt freshman Nick Montana.

It's no surprise given the way spring football played out, with UW coach Steve Sarkisian saying on Saturday that Price (pictured in an AP photo) would be in the lead following strong performances by Price in UW's last two scrimmages. But it is the first public acknowledgement that Price, a 6-1, 195-pounder from Compton, Calif., is the leader to replace the graduated Jake Locker, who last week was taken in the first round of the NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans.

In a release from the school, Sarkisian said that: "Based on his entire body of work this spring, Keith Price has earned the right to be our starting quarterback. Keith worked extremely hard this spring and has developed into a team leader. I am also pleased with the progress of Nick Montana, who will continue to push Keith and make us a better football team."

Price was 20-28 for 212 yards with three touchdowns passing in the spring game on Saturday and also ran 29 yards for another.

Price was 19-37 for 164 yards and two touchdowns in 2010, starting against Oregon in place of an injured Locker and playing in seven other games.

Sarkisian has stated that even if a leader is named there will remain competition at the QB spot in fall camp, which will start sometime in early August in anticipation of the season opener against Eastern Washington Sept. 3.

Also notable is the designating of Josh Shirley as a "Rush'' end --- a new position on the depth chart that also helps to put into context UW's plans for a five-man defensive line. Shirley was one of the revelations of spring ball with his play as a pass-rusher off the edge.

As you can read, lots of either/ors at many of the other contested positions, especially at the two OLB spots, where basically everybody is listed as a potential starter. Also, as was evident during the spring, the RT and LG spots are wide open. So other than QB, not a lot of answers yet.

Maybe most notable of the other spots is Jonathan Amosa atop the FB battle and Kevin Smith as the third receiver,

KOHLER WON'T NEED SURGERY --- Also, it has been confirmed that the MCL injury suffered by OL Erik Kohler on Saturday will not require surgery. He should be able to return for fall camp.
