ESPN examines Locker
Posted by Bob Condotta
As some of you have already noted on here, ESPN.com had a good examination of Jake Locker's game in its Insider section today.
Ted Miller links to it and also provides some good grist for the mill on his blog.
GoHuskies.com also has a link and some additional Locker info.
One thing I would add to the talk of Locker's completion percentage is to take into account the change in the offense. Under the Tyrone Willingham regime, there was much more of an emphasis on deep passes than in the new offense, which calls for more high-percentage passes, and then picking spots to go deep, usually out of play action.
That alone helped raise the completion percentage a little bit last season. And becoming more familiar with the nuances of that --- remember all the throws to Paul Homer in the Apple Cup, none of which were first options and were later mentioned by coaches as evidence of Locker's increasing comfort in the offense --- should help raise the percentage even more this year.
Miller today also had this video look at UW's uncertain positions entering 2010.
