Saturday links --- Locker's NY sked, and trouble at UCLA
Posted by Bob Condotta
The news just never seems to stop. ...
--- UW today released the schedule for Jake Locker during his trip east on Monday and Tuesday. You'll notice there is no use of the word "Heisman'' in the release, but obviously they aren't doing this for anyone else on the team. This should also make it obvious that name recognition won't be an issue for Locker this fall. The pieces will be in place for him to make a Heisman run as long as he plays well and the team wins.
--- Three UCLA recruits have been arrested on felony theft charges, including highly-touted LB Josh Shirley, whom the Huskies also recruited hard before he made a last-minute decision to instead become a Bruin. Shirley visited UW the week of the USC game. CB Shaquille Richardson, also arrested, also visited UW (the weekend of the Oregon game).
--- Here's the LA Times wrapup of USC's decision to appeal some of its penalties. Note the dates of the appeals committee meetings --- late September and November.
--- Jon Wilner further examines the "division issue'' facing the new Pac-10.
--- Just for the heck of it, figured I would again link a site I really like that hardcore football fans should also enjoy.
All for now.
