Monday links --- Angels, Locker at odds over baseball plans?

We'll start the day with an interesting item from the Orange County Register's Angels blog in which Angels GM Tony Reagins says the team was surprised by Jake Locker's statement last week that he planned not to play any baseball this summer.
Reagins says the Angels plan to "have discussions'' with Locker about his plans for the summer and that the team is ready to take a hard-line stance on the issue.
According to the item: "Reagins said Locker's plans to focus on football this summer was "news to me" and the Angels have not received any communication from Locker indicating he wouldn't be available to play baseball this summer.''
The OC blog item reports that if Locker doesn't play baseball this summer, it could "cost Locker financially'' with Reagins quoted as saying that "There are provisions in the contract and any time you have a contract and one party doesn't live up to those provisions, there are recourses you can take.''
Locker signed a contract worth a reported $250,000 in August of 2009 that gave his rights to the Angels for six years. As the OC blog item says, "it includes provisions for his participation in baseball activity with the team'' though exactly what those are has always been left a little vague.
Locker had previously been confirmed to have spent three days with the Angels minor league camp at spring training in March, though this item says he spent two weekends with the Angels. Local reporters were asked not to ask Locker questions about baseball during spring practice.
