Clarification on Trent scholarship --- he remains on basketball
Posted by Bob Condotta
A UW official clarified tonight that Clarence Trent remains on a basketball scholarship for this quarter and wouldn't be moved to football until the fall quarter, assuming that all goes well with his conversion to that sport.
Apparently, a player can't be changed from one sport to the next during the academic year, and since a lot could potentially happen between now and then, it can't be assumed he will be on a football scholarship in the fall, so for now, he remains on a basketball ride. This may be most important for the basketball team, which could have two scholarships open if Trent were to switch to football. It sounds like that's the plan, that he will move to football. But for now, Trent's spot isn't open and wouldn't be until the fall.
