So can we at least have an Apple Cup with some decent weather, even if storm clouds continue to figuratively loom over the football teams in this state?

Maybe so, as the forecast calls for just a 10 percent chance of precipitation Saturday, which would be a nice in the wet weather we've been having of late.

In other news. ...

--- Here's my story for tomorrow's paper, which includes the comments from today's media luncheon by UW tight end Kavario Middleton. You won't be hearing anything else from Middleton this week. UW players are actually made available to us only once per week, so Middleton won't be allowed to talk to us again per the usual custom at UW. But just in case, UW coach Steve Sarkisian emphatically let a school spokesman know at practice today that Middleton was no longer allowed to talk to reporters this week.

--- Our notebook looks at the Locker family connection to this game.

--- As part of our Apple Cup coverage, Bud Withers examined where Paul Wulff's program is almost two years in.

--- Lots of Cougar notes from Vince Grippi at The Spokesman-Review, including an item on WSU walk-on QB David Gilbertson, son of former UW head coach Keith.

--- Former Husky Nigel Burton is listed as a potential candidate at Portland State. Burton was a DB at UW from 1996-98.

--- Mason Kelley of our staff wrote a nice profile of Bothell OL Colin Porter, who has committed to play at Washington.

--- Scout.com has a story on some of the players Sarkisian saw in LA last week.

--- Sarkisian's mentioned in this Grey Cup story, noting how he helped an old teammate eventually land a spot in the league.

--- The Oaks Christian team of UW commits Nick Montana and Erik Kohler is ranked No. 5 in the nation in this poll.
