The Huskies are off the field after a practice of about 55 minutes this afternoon at UW.

It was the second straight Thursday in which the Huskies practiced without pads and UW coach Steve Sarkisian thought that contributed to another solid day of work.

"I thought today was good,'' he said. "We took the pads off again on Thursday. This is the second week in a row that we've (done) that. I thought our speed and tempo was good. Really good attention to detail.

"I thought this week all in all was really good week from a couple of standpoints. One I thoight we responded well coming off of the game in UCLA and our kids just came right back with the same intensity, enthusiasm and hunger that you want to see. There's some chippiness at practice, which is good.''

It was another brisky day at UW, which Sarkisian also liked.

"I thought we were somewhat fortunate in that we got good weather for where we're going to play. The Corvallis forecast is going to be very similar to what we had here throughout this week. So we got to practice in it. We were outside for three days. I think all in all it was a really good week.''

In terms of personnel news, Sarkisian said that FS Jason Wells did enough in practice that he will play Saturday.

Wells has plantar fasciitis in his foot but Sarkisian said Wells was "a lot better today. A lot better. And that's what the injury is. On the bottom of that foot, that thing can heal pretty quickly and I think he's healing fine."

Sarkisian said the rest of the team, other than players already ruled out such as Cameron Elisara and E.J. Savannah, should be ready to go.

He also said there is still no set starter at left tackle, where Drew Schaefer and Ben Ossai have been rotating.

"We'll look at that tomorrow.'' he said. "We're going to look at this film tonight then access it as a staff and we'll make that decision tomorrow. They're both going to play."

Sarkisian was also reminded by a reporter that he may not have the best memories of Corvallis, as USC has lost its last two games there.

"No. Shoot I haven't had a lot of luck there the last couple of trips,'' he said.

Would a win this weekend right some wrongs? "Well it would be nice. It's a fun place to go play college football. It really is. The fans get into the games. Their game operations people do a really good job of utilizing the board, the chainsaw on third down and they do some really cool stuff, which makes it fun and entertaining. So it's exciting. I'm anxious to get there and go play."
