Thursday a.m. links --- another new Husky?

Posted by Bob Condotta

That's the word this morning as there are reports that that defensive end Andrew Hudson of Redlands East Valley High in Redlands, Calif., has indeed committed.

RealDawg.com and Dawgman.com are each reporting that Hudson has committed.

RealDawg quotes Hudson as saying: ""I committed. I sat down with my coach and my family and we went over the pros and cons, and overall it was Washington.''

That's the same high school as current Huskies Chris Polk, Ronnie Fouch and Marquis Persley. Polk and Fouch hosted him on his official visit during the Oregon game weekend, and Hudson had told SuperPrep.com a few months ago that UW was his leader, so he had been considered one player likely to eventually commit to the Huskies. He visited Oregon State last weekend and also visited Arizona, each of which had offered.

He is the 22nd commit for the Huskies and fills a need as a player projected to be a pass-rushing defensive end, though at 6-3, 225 he may need a little time to develop physically.

He's the first player listed solely as a defensive end to commit. Here's a list of UW's other commits.

ESPN.com has him rated as a two-star recruit. And here are his stats for this season, showing he has eight sacks in seven games.

UPDATE --- Greg Biggins at ESPN.com is also now confirming the Hudson commit. And for what it's worth, they list him at 6-3, 215.

IN OTHER NEWS. ...

--- The Orange County Register examines UCLA's suddenly shaky cornerback situation heading into Saturday's game.

--- ESPN.com's Ted Miller picks UCLA 24-21 saying Jake Locker's status is worrisome. Miller also has his what to watch in the Pac-10 this week entry, and an update on LeGarrette Blount --- which sounds like basically nothing.

--- Vince Grippi of The Spokesman-Review also picks UCLA though he writes that if Locker is healthy the Huskies should win.

--- If you're curious about the team's schedule for Friday, here it is.

All for now.

Maybe Oregon recruits nationally because they don't want the kids to see Eugene more then once before they get them to commit.  Posted on November 5, 2009 at 11:58 AM by Myk. Jump to comment
I wouldn't look too much into how many stars a recruit has. Aaron Curry had 2, and some sites didn't even evaluate him!  Posted on November 5, 2009 at 10:00 AM by Free Warrior. Jump to comment
TD --- UW would obviously love to have that same flow of money. But not sure UW really wants to recruit nationally --- Oregon has to in part...  Posted on November 5, 2009 at 10:06 AM by Bob Condotta. Jump to comment
