Wednesday early practice report --- Locker looks ready to go

Posted by Bob Condotta

Well, either Jake Locker is going to play Saturday against UCLA or he just really needs a lot of practice.

In the early portion of Washington's practice Wednesday, when the No. 1 offense runs through the plays it is focusing on for this week's game, Locker took every snap. These are not full-contact run-throughs or anything, so he isn't getting tested in that way. But in what he was being asked to do, he looked just fine.

(And for those worried such a report might be giving away anything to UCLA, the fact that Bruins coach Rick Neuheisel apparently can barely remember Ronnie Fouch's name I think indicates who he figures will start Saturday).

Here's a picture (I know it's not a great one, but it is what it is) of the team going through early conditioning drills with Locker right in the middle of the action (the yellow No. 10 jersey):

In non-Locker news. ...

--- DT Cameron Elisara is again out as he has apparently not gotten clearance to return from his stinger injury. And that could mean a revamped starting DL with Daniel Te'o-Nesheim inside and true frosh Talia Crichton and Andru Pulu at the ends as DT Everrette Thompson also appears to still be limited --- he's been battliing the flu. If Pulu and Crichton really got the start, that could mean four true freshmen in the starting lineup on defense, joining CB Desmond Trufant and FS Nathan Fellner.

--- OL Mykenna Ikehara also remains out indicating his status is questionable for Saturday as he has not practiced since banging his knee in practice on the Monday of the bye week.

--- And it if needs said, E.J. Savannah is also out with his hand in a pretty big cast. Coach Steve Sarkisian has said Savannah is not out for the year, but he definitely is out for this game.

More after practice.
