Quick post-practice update

Posted by Bob Condotta

A few quick notes from the last practice for the Huskies until Sunday. ...

--- No new apparent injuries.

--- Anthony Boyles again spent the day at CB and got a lot of work with the first-team --- that doesn't indicate he's a starter just that they wanted to see him work with the first unit.

--- Alvin Logan got some work at linebacker, looked like mostly at WLB, the same spot played by E.J. Savannah, whose status is uncertain going forward due to his broken hand. Sarkisian said of both moves that they are just trying to get as much speed on the field as possible. Sarkisian said of Logan that "I thought he did some nice things. He looked physical, looked tough and obviously ran well for being at the linebacker spot.''

--- Backup G/CMykenna Ikehara again sat out with what Sarkisian said was a banged knee suffered in practice Monday. "He knocked it straight into the ground, so it's pretty sore,'' Sarkisian said. The hope is the swelling will go down and he can return to practice Sunday or Monday.

--- Jake Locker again sat out practice, spending a lot of it working on the side throwing with Brandon Yakaboski, a running back sitting out the year with a knee injury.

--- One of the stars of the day of the young players was true frosh TE Marlion Barnett, who had two catches on deep passes down the sideline in the team period.

--- The practice ended with Keith Price running around the side for a TD, capping what appeared to be a solid couple days for Price, whose mobility was on display often. That said, Sarkisian also praised the play of Ronnie Fouch --- those two took all the QB reps this week with Locker out.

--- Sarkisian said Locker probably couldn't have played this week if UW had a game, but Locker denied that saying "I would have been okay.'' I'll have from both Sarkisian and Locker later.

--- WR James Johnson, who sat out Tuesday while sick, was back Wednesday though not in full pads.

All for now.

Locker did not have his legs vs uo. If he had to play this week he might be ok,but maybe not. Using that as an opp to bash the coach is badness. It...  Posted on October 28, 2009 at 8:18 PM by backspin. Jump to comment

In contrast to USC, the dawgs had every position, except perhaps QB, that needed upgrading this year. The coaches are still learning what they...  Posted on October 28, 2009 at 7:41 PM by OsidePuP. Jump to comment
