More on the TV situation for this week

Posted by Bob Condotta

The TV situation for this week has continued to elicit questions, here and elsewhere, so the UW sports information department has attempted to clear up the confusion.

Here are the key parts of what the UW release states on the TV situation for this week:

The game, which was not selected as part of the league's normal television package, will be televised live by Fox College Sports (otherwise known as FCS), a channel owned and operated by FSN that features round-the-clock college sports programming.

According to information provided by the Pac-10, the game can been seen on DirecTV (channel 617) for subscribers to its popular Sports Pack. Approximately 3 million households nationwide subscribe to the Sports Pack through DirecTV.

Comcast subscribers in the state of Washington can find the game on one of three channels (413, 414 or 415). The Comcast Sports Entertainment Package is required to watch all three of the Fox College Sports channels. Approximately 83,000 households in the state currently subscribe to the Sports Package.

Comcast subscribers in the state of Oregon will be treated to a free preview of Fox College Sports throughout the weekend. FCS channels are also located on 413, 414 and 415 in Oregon. Normally a subscription to the Comcast Sports Entertainment Package is required.

In the state of California, Comcast subscribers to the Sports Entertainment Package will also be able to watch the game - particularly those in the San Francisco, Monterey, Sacramento, Chico and Fresno markets. Please check local listings for specific channel information.

Subscribers to Verizon's FiOS TV service that have the "Extreme HD" package have access to the three FCS channels on 300, 301 and 302.

In addition, the game will be shown live on the UW Seattle campus cable system - at this point it is planned to appear on channel 3. This is different than the state-wide distribution of UWTV. The game will NOT appear on UWTV.

In short, due to the fact that the game was added to the schedule at such a late date, it might not appear on your television's on-screen schedule. Please contact your cable provider with specific questions. Comcast can be reached at 1-800-COMCAST. DirecTV can be reached at 800-531-5000. Verizon FiOS has regional office, so click here to find the appropriate customer service number in your area.

So hopefully that answers your questions about the TV situation for this week.
