Ticket update
Posted by Bob Condotta
I've gotten, and published in this space, a couple of different numbers on ticket sales for the USC game in the couple of days, so sorry if there is any confusion out there.
But I am told tonight by a member of the UW ticket office that the most accurate number for the tickets sold for the USC game is roughly 59,000. So that obviously means there are plenty of tickets remaining with Husky Stadium having an official capacity of 72,500.
That's also a somewhat surprisingly low total given the opponent and the apparent excitement about the play of the Huskies in the first two games. But maybe it speaks to the economy and a wait-and-see attitude about the Huskies before fans really dive right back in.
Tt's also the third straight home game, which maybe also is having an impact. The Huskies had an attendance of 69,161 for the LSU game, bolstered by an estimated 8,000-10,000 LSU fans, and 58,980 for the Idaho game.
And interestingly, despite its status as one of the top teams in the nation most of the last decade, USC hasn't necessarily been a great draw when it has come to Husky Stadium the last few times.
The USC game in 2007 drew 68,654, which that ranked below three other home games (Ohio State, Boise State, Washington State), and the 2005 game drew 64,096, the third-highest total of that season behind Notre Dame and Washington State.
Anyway, the overall point is that there are lots of seats left.
