Quick practice update
Posted by Bob Condotta
The Huskies are off the field after another tidy workout, this one lasting about 1:45 on a sunny day at the stadium.
The team was in full pads with lots of work against the scout teams, though no real live tackling or anything.
UW coach Steve Sarkisian does not meet with the media on Tuesdays post-practice so I don't have anything from him. A few of us talked afterward with James Johnson so expect a raft of stories on him later, including one I will file for our paper.
A few other notes from practice. ...
--- No apparent new injuries. DE Darrion Jones was suited up but did no live work, indicating he may be more questionable for this week than initially anticipated. Kalani Aldrich and Everrette Thompson got a lot of work with the ones in his absence.
--- The rest of the lineups looked the same, including the safeties, where Nate Williams and Greg Walker appeared to be the tandem to get the most work,. However, as promised, Victor Aiyewa also got his share of time, and Justin Glenn also got some substantial work at free safety.
--- Erik Folk had a good day going 4-4 during the team period, with a long of 40.
--- LB Matt Houston and CB Matt Mosley were each in pads, but neither appeared to do anything during the team period. Jason Wells was also in pads but didn't do any work during the team period.
--- Mykenna Ikehara got a lot of work at left guard, where Greg Christine is the current starter. Otherwise, the OL looked pretty much the same.
--- OTs Skyler Fancher and Terrance Thomas remain out.
--- The team continues to employ officials to work at practice. There were three there today.
--- The offense appeared to get the better of it during the final team period.
--- Marques Tuiasosopo will be honored as the Husky Legend this week. He spent sometime after practice talking with a former teammate, Jabari Issa, who is back in town and also attended the game Saturday.
All for now.
