Burnett impressed by visit

Among the close to 70,000 fans in the stands for the beginning of the Steve Sarkisian era Saturday night were a number of recruits, including a half-dozen or so of some of the top targets left on UW's board.
Some wondered if there might be some risk involved there if the Huskies were to get blown out by LSU.
But that obviously didn't happen, and at least one of highly-touted recruits in attendance, linebacker Victor Burnett of Culver City, said he left Seattle impressed. I got a hold of Burnett tonight after his visit to get an impression of what one recruit thought of the weekend.
"I had a lot of fun on my visit,'' he said. "It made everything in my eyes better with the University of Washington.''
Burnett, considered among the top 25 or so middle linebacker prospects in the country, said the competitiveness of the game was a part of that equation.
"That was a real big impact,'' he said. "Just how the team was competing and never gave up and they almost went out there and beat them.''
But Burnett said he still plans to take his other four official visits before making up his mind, with Arizona and Oklahoma likely to be on his list.
"I want to take my last four and then make my decision after that,'' he said. "But Washington is high on my priorities, I can tell you that.''
It's not thought that any of the uncommitted players committed on their visits, and for most, it was just the beginning of their recruiting process so there may not be any decisions for a while. But if Burnett's impressions were shared by the others, it sounds as if the weekend likely helped UW's standing with those who were there.
