I had a chance last night to talk a little bit with offensive line coach Doug Nussmeier about what the Huskies can expect from LSU, the team's offensive line shuffle, and Jake Locker's progress. Here's what he said:

--- On LSU: "The one thing about LSU is that obviously they have great talent. At the same time, you have to look at (new defensive coordinator John Chavis) and what they've done at Tennessee and what he is going to bring with them and what they've done in the past at LSU. The one thing you will see is they will cover up all five of our linemen with a stick-type front, they call it, and try to create pressures and get one-on-one blocks on our linemen. That's something they will probably do and so we have to prepare for it and get ready for it and go play. But as with any first game, there are going to be wrinkles that they may have and and things they haven't shown before and wrinkles that we may have and haven't shown before. That is always the interesting part of a first game of the season is you've got to feel each other out to see what you are doing to get.''

--- On the offensive line shuffle this week: "All camp long we have been moving guys around, trying to get guys at different spots, and this is something we came to as what we thought gave us the best opportunity to win at this point in time. As you can see in practice, we are always interchanging those guys and getting the different combinations working. The great thing is those guys are starting to build communication with each other and the more they move around, the more they realize how important communicating is with each other.''

--- On what Greg Christine did to earn a starting job: "He had a great camp. We talked to our guys at the start of camp and said it was about opportunity and competition and he go this opportunity and competed and did well with them, and that's what it's all about. He just was always doing the right things at the right place at the right time, and that is what you are asking for. He is one of our best communicators up front and he does a great job communicating with the guys he is playing with up front.''

--- On Jake Locker's progress: "He continues to progress every day, and it is still a learning experience every day for him. But he continues to work hard. He is becoming more and more comfortable every day with what we are doing and that is the thing to just continue to get him rep afrer rep after rep and his knowledge of the game continues to improve. And you couldn't ask for a harder work and a guy with more athleticism and the things he can do, its great to have an opportunity to coach him.''

--- Are there one or two things you could say he has really gotten better at during fall camp?: "No doubt in my mind, his feet are much better, much better. And his understanding of the rhythm of the passing game is much better. It may not always be perfect, but he knows when it's not right now and that is one of the biggest things, that he can self-correct.''
