With fall camp basically ending tomorrow with the last two-a-days of the year, the attention is beginning to switch to the opener against LSU.

For the first time this season, the Huskies broke their No. 1 offense and No. 1 defense into separate groups to work against scout teams who were specifically running LSU plays.

"We thought it's a good day for us to introduce it to our guys as we get gong into game preparation here on Saturday to get it introduced today so Saturday is not the first day we are doing it,'' coach Steve Sarkisian said.

Some might ask if UW shouldn't have been doing such preparation earlier. One thing to note is that much of what they have been doing through camp is obviously stuff they will do come the game. The chore now is just to begin weeding out what will and won't be in the gameplan for LSU.

Sarkisian also noted that the two teams are similar in what they do so there isn't as much to get prepared for scheme-wise.

"We are fortunate in that our schemes on both sides of the ball are very similar to what LSU does,'' he said. "So a lot of what we are getting on both sides (during practice now) is what we are going to get on game week and in the game. So it's not going to be a huge difference. There are going to be subtleties here and there, but we are fortunate we are getting a lot the same (looks) so there's not a lot new to our guys.,''

The team working in such groups, however, also means that some dividing up of reps has begun to occur.

With Chris Polk out for the day with a concussion, there were usually just three RBs with the one offense --- Johri Fogerson, Curtis Shaw and Willie Griffin. Demitrius Bronson split his time between the scout and No. 1 offense.

That seems to indicate that a four-man group has emerged to be in the rotation at RB. Sarkisian basically said as much later when asked how many tailbacks he could see playing against LSU. "At least four,'' he said.

At receiver, there were five working with the No. 1 offense --- Jordan Polk, James Johnson, Devin Aguilar, Jermaine Kearse and D'Andre Goodwin. Cody Bruns was sidelined with a hamstring and Anthony Boyles and Luther Leonard worked with the scout team.

And if it needs to be said, Jake Locker and Ronnie Fouch were the QBs with the main offense while Keith Price worked with the scout team.

There weren't really any other lineup revelations as the predominant O-line appeared the same as it has through camp.

The defense was a little more in flux with Victor Aiyewa spending much of the day with the one defense ahead of Greg Walker at free safety with Nate Williams playing at strong. But safeties coach Jeff Mills said nothing remains set in stone and that he envisions a "safety-by-committee'' approach, saying as many as four or so guys will likely play regularly.

Desmond Trufant also spent much of the day working as a No. 1 cornerback but that remains in part to try to get him up to speed as quickly as possible and not an indication that's where he is on the depth chart.

The front seven was unchanged.

--- PK Erik Folk, who was good last week, appears to have hit another mini-slump, missing three of four attempts today from 47, 39 and 34 while hitting from 43. Backup Eric Guttorp hit both of his attempts from 31 andd 35.

--- Sarkisian indicated he will make public some of his decisions on the depth chart Saturday.

--- He said it is still too early to tell exactly how many true frosh will play this year, though Johnson, for one, is certain. Johnson and Jordan Polk looked like they continue to be in the starting group at receiver.

--- The team appears to be done with any major scrimmaging for camp. Friday's closed practice is expected to be a game runthrough sort of deal, where the team works on the "mechanics'' of game day, how to work substitutions and time outs and all of that. The Huskies will then begin their regular game-week preparation on Saturday.

--- UW will practice at night all next week, beginning at 7 p.m., to get acclimated to what the conditions will be like for gameday against LSU, when kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

--- One of the highlights of the day was a full-speed reaching grab down the sideline of a nice pass from Jake Locker, who had another solid day throwing the ball. Goodwin also had a nice sliding catch during another drill.

--- Fogerson also took a short pass from Locker and broke through the defense for what might have been an 80-yard TD, though the play was whistled dead earlier.

--- Once again, a healthy portion of time spent on special teams. One thing I hadn't seen before was some of the upback guys on the kickoff return team working on how to fair catch. Among those in the drill was defensive tackle Cameron Elisara.

--- Practices tomorrow are at 8:45 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Both are open to the public, the last this camp that are open to the entire public.
