Where do the 2000 Huskies rank among the top teams of the decade, and which UW player will represent the school at Pac-10 media day? Read on. ....

--- Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury News, in his continuing look at the Pac-10 in the last decade, has this look today at the top teams. Wilner puts the 2000 Huskies ninth. You could quibble with that a bit, but anyone who saw that team has to realize it wasn't as dominant as a lot of other teams that have finished 11-1, winning seven games by a touchdown or less. For maximizing its ability, it might rank among the top two or three. But head-to-head, hard to argue that a lot of those other teams would probably be favored.

--- ESPN.com's Ted Miller has the list of the Pac-10 players that will be attending the conference's media day later this month and reveals that Donald Butler will represent UW. As he notes, it's a little surprising Jake Locker wouldn't go. But as he also notes, Locker went last year and can also go again next year. And as a senior and starting LB, Butler figures to emerge as something of a team spokesman this year, so he seems a fitting non-Locker choice.

--- ESPN.com also has this story today on coaches and Twitter and other social networking sites. No mention of UW but lots of mention of how USC uses those sites, which is obviously a big influence on what the new Husky staff is doing.

--- Something I didn't know existed --- the Laboratory for the Study of Intercollegiate Athletics at Texas A&M --- has devised a way to rank each college athletic department by efficiency in spending. Basically, how many titles are won per dollar spent. UW finished fifth in the Pac-10 behind Oregon, USC, UCLA and Arizona State.

--- The Quad Countdown finally reaches Arizona State at No. 59.

--- The Big Lead lists its top five Heisman candidates for 2009.

All for now.
