Here are some of the biggest moments in Washington crew history:
1903: First UW intercollegiate race with California
1910: Hiram Conibear establishes the Varsity Boat Club
1912: Pocock family designs first shell for UW program
1913: First trip to IRA Regatta in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; Huskies finish third
1923: Washington wins IRA under first-year coach Rusty Callow, becoming the first West Coast varsity crew to win
1936: UW varsity eight wins Olympic gold in Berlin
1948: Huskies again win gold at the Olympics in London in the four
1952: Huskies win four with coxswain Olympic bronze medal in Helsinki
1958: Huskies eight wins behind the Iron Curtain in Moscow, pulling an upset in the Moscow Cup
1968: Dick Erickson hired as men's coach
1970: First year of racing on opening day
1977: Huskies win at Henley for first time
1981: Washington women's rowing captures first Women's Collegiate National Championship, starting a string of five titles in six years
1987: First Windermere Cup features appearances by Soviet crews
1997: UW men and women sweep the IRAs and NCAAs, respectively, winning the varsity eight, second varsity eight and the freshman eight
2007: Michael Callahan becomes men's head coach, and Bob Ernst takes over the women
2009: Washington men sweep the eights at IRA
