If you're a die-hard University of Washington football fan, you probably have your Huskies jersey. And your Huskies hat. And maybe even a Huskies license plate.
We know you follow the Dawgs daily in these pages, on Seattletimes.com, and on sports radio. And you still can't get enough.
Now, there's a new way to pursue your passion for the purple and gold, and to stay on top of all the latest news about your favorite team wherever and whenever you want it.
Beginning this week, we're launching a "Seattle Times Husky Football 2010" application for the iPhone and the iPod Touch.
You can download the app from the Apple App Store, for a download fee of $2.99 for the entire season — less than you'll pay for a gallon of gasoline.
This represents an important new step for this region's leading news organization — our first for-pay mobile application — and we think it will be a must-have for the serious Huskies football fan.
With it, you will have at your fingertips:
• Up-to-the-minute news about the Huskies, from the largest team of sports reporters in the Pacific Northwest.
• Inside information from on and off the field — positive and negative — from the most respected and experienced reporter on the beat, Bob Condotta. You'll get Bob's blog posts and tweets as he sends them.
• A special section on Heisman Trophy candidate Jake Locker.
• A Twitter feed from coach Steve Sarkisian.
• A stadium-full of facts and figures, including player profiles, statistics, scores and standings.
• Galleries of The Times' prize-winning football photos.
• Exclusive access to fan contests and special events.
• Audio treats, including a built-in "Touchdown, Huskies!" siren.
Most important, unlike other sites and apps produced by sports teams, you'll get the objective reporting The Times has delivered to you for years. Now you'll find that reporting not only on your front porch in the morning, but in your pocket or your purse whenever you want it.
We hope you enjoy it. Oh, and here's a tip: Shake the phone with the app running for a fun surprise.
