Here are highlights of Friday's exclusive chat with Washington women's basketball players Sami Whitcomb and Kristi Kingma. For the complete chat, and previous chats with Seattle sports newsmakers, go to seattletimes.com.
Q: You both were coached by your dads. When you're in a slump, do you turn to them for advice?
Whitcomb: HECK, NO! I turn to my coaches when I'm in a slump.
Kingma: I would if he came to my games. Brett (Kingma) played last night for Jackson, so he was the favorite child that night.
Q: Do you have a boyfriend?
Kingma: Yes, Spalding. Perhaps you've heard of him. He's a little orange and really tough-skinned.
Q: Which sports are you most awful at?
Whitcomb: I am TERRIBLE at tennis. It's unbelievable how bad I am at tennis.
Kingma: Golf. It's just not active enough for me.
Q: What character trait do you two admire the most in coach Tia Jackson?
Kingma: Besides her classy style of dress, I think she gets everyone to work hard as a team and to want to compete for each other.
Q: Sami, do you have a Spalding relationship or is it Nike?

Whitcomb: Actually, I've been dating both of them for many years. Neither of them know about each other. At the end of the year, I plan to break it to them.
Q: When is the best time to get autographs from the players?
Whitcomb: Probably just right after the game. Just wait near the court. Kristi and I are in no rush to do our homework.
Q: Do either of you have a good-luck charm or anything that you always have home or away?
Kingma: I actually have a blankie! I bring it with me on all the road trips. It's my baby blanket.
Q: Who has the weakest stomach of the traveling entourage while on roller coasters?
Whitcomb: I have a love-hate relationship with roller coasters. I hate heights, so the part where you're ascending makes me want to cry like a little girl. After the first drop, I'm good.
Q: Do the boys on campus chase after you, or is it the other way around?
Whitcomb: It gets a little embarrassing. They wait outside my class and try to carry my books. But seriously, they do. It gets a little overwhelming. And it makes Spalding and Nike very jealous.
