The 2009 season was one for the record books for UW softball player Danielle Lawrie.
As a junior, the Langley, British Columbia native, helped lead the Huskies to their first-ever NCAA national softball championship with a 42-8 record, a 0.97 ERA and 521 strikeouts. She set UW single-season records for wins, strikeouts, innings pitched (352.2), games started (50) and complete games (46).
During the Huskies' run to the national title, she broke a UW single-game record when she whiffed 24 batters in a 15-inning victory over UMass in the NCAA Regionals.
For her standout efforts, she was named the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year and also earned the Honda Award for softball.
