Three new Huskies

Various reports have UW securing commitments from three California high-school players in the last few days. The three new Huskies, who are all expected to sign in February to be part of the Class of 2010, are 6-1, 205-pound middle linebacker Princeton Fuimaono and 6-2, 195-pound receiver/defensive back John Timu, each of Jordan High in Long Beach; and 6-2, 205-pound outside linebacker Brent Williams of Taft High in Woodland Hills. UW now has 15 solid commitments for the Class of 2010, the first full class for new coach Steve Sarkisian.

Trufant ready to return

True freshman cornerback Desmond Trufant of Tacoma, the younger brother of the Seahawks' Marcus Trufant, should be back on the field as soon as Thursday after completing a class to replace one that was denied by the NCAA Clearinghouse, UW secondary coach Demetrice Martin said Wednesday. And despite not having practiced yet, Trufant could help immediately, Martin said. "I really feel he is going to come out and be able to help us," Martin said. "I think the thing that happened hurt him as far as him being a super-early contributor. But he's a smart guy, and with his football background and bloodline, I think he will catch up real fast."

Roll call

UW suffered no injuries of note in the morning practice and welcomed a couple of players back who had missed Tuesday's scrimmage, including K Erik Folk and LB E.J. Savannah. Through the morning practice, UW had not suffered any injuries through its first 11 workouts that figured to sideline anyone for the opener against LSU on Sept. 5.

What's next

UW will hold one practice today at 3 p.m. at Husky Stadium.
